General information for new players interested in the travel program.
After try-outs, the travel program begins with practices in August and goes through March (sometimes April and May for tournaments) of the next year. Each team may compete in B, A, AA, or AAA leagues made up of teams from other organizations. Play in a multi-organization league involves travel to other locations for games, as well as an equal number of home games. Practices are usually twice per week, with 2 games, on the same day and against the same opponent, played on the weekends. Travel teams also compete in several tournaments each year.

Travel hockey requires a full commitment to practices and games, travel time and expense, and family support. The higher the level of competition, the greater the travel distances will be. One or two night stays are almost always required for tournaments and sometimes for one-day game play, depending on the distance and scheduling.

The Louisville Stallions organization always strives to find the right balance between: having fun and making friends; skills and character development; and satisfying competion at an appropriate level. The ideal is for each team and each player to achieve some measure of success while being challenged to compete hard and consistently improve, and to fully enjoy the experience of being part of a travel youth sports team.

All hockey players must join USA Hockey and have an active membership before they can play.
