Cross Ice

Ages 3 through 6

The Cross Ice Program is a USA Hockey development system that is designed for boys and girls ages 3 through 6. Ice Hockey at this level is based on having fun, participation by all, and learning basic hockey skills. Cost is $125 which includes a jersey.

Mites
Ages 7 and 8
2010 Summer dates coming soon

The Cross Mite Program is designed with the young player's development in mind without the use of full ice. Games are played on a third of the rink, ensuring lots of puck control and non-stop action. This program meets on Sunday afternoons for games. The price is $135 which includes a jersey. $50 registration fee

All hockey players must join USA Hockey and have an active membership before they can play.

Cross-Ice
The Cross Ice Program is a USA Hockey development system that is designed for boys and girls ages 3 through 6. Each group works on a third of the rink (cross-wise). Ice Hockey at this level is based on having fun, participation by all, and being taught basic hockey skills.

Mite
The Mite Program is designed with the young players' development in mind without the use of full ice. Games are played on a third of the rink, ensuring lots of puck control and non-stop action. This program is for 6-7 year olds.

Cross Ice method explained

Practicing: The children have more energy with which they can improve their skills when they are skating 85 feet across the ice surface as opposed to the 200 foot length of the ice surface. Group sizes are smaller which means learning and teaching will be more effective. Children have more puck contact resulting in improved puck control skills.

Games: Playing on a smaller rink results in increased puck possession time for each player. Scoring skills are enhanced since the players have more shooting opportunities and the child sized goal nets force the players to shoot more accurately. The feeling of being an important part of the action increases because of the small size of the rink.
